Red Tree Gallery - Susan Jones

After years of exploring paper collage and monoprinting Susan discovered the world of fiber art. Using nature as her inspiration and incorporating organic shapes, she begins the layering process by manipulating the fabric with a variety of surface media which include paints, inks and dyes. The surface is then rendered more three dimensional through stitch, layered fabric and embellishment. Susan refers to this technique as working 'Beyond The Thread' and uses it to produce framed pieces and soft sculpture.
